Neymar alerted Paris Saint-Germain teammate Lionel Messi as he made a flamboyant skill move in Brazil’s thrashing of South Korea.

Tite’s men cruised 4-1 past the Asian side in their last 16 draw on Monday night, with the star moving forward on the scoresheet as he returned to the team following an ankle ligament injury in the group stage.

And during the match, Neymar appeared to be copying an outrageous Messi-esque piece of improvisation as he used the referee to beat two opponents, in an echo of the Argentine doing the same at Barcelona.

Neymar, with his back to the South Korean goal, received a pass from a teammate, with official Clement Turpin standing meters away and facing him.

The 30-year-old then deliberately hit towards Turpin so that the ball was almost between the referee’s legs and the pair stood face to face as defenders from both sides closed in.

As the opposing duo sprinted closer and the referee backed off, Neymar dragged the ball back and had escaped the press in a swift movement and leaped forward.

A social media video shows Messi also making the same move while in Barcelona – and eagle-eyed fans on social media were quick to spot the comparison.

Vinicius Junior opened the scoring for Brazil against the South Koreans, with Neymar scoring from the spot six minutes later, and Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta making it 4–0 at the break, before Paik Seung-ho scored after the break.

Neymar’s return to the side, after missing out on group stage matches against Switzerland and Cameroon, is a huge boost for the Seleção, who now face Japanese conqueror Croatia in the quarter-finals on Friday.
