Luka Modric has reportedly received an ultimatum from Real Madrid that he must step down from his international duties if he wants to sign a new contract at the club.

He is a legendary figure at Real, having won 21 trophies at the club, including five Champions League titles.

In total, Modric has won 162 caps for Croatia and has been integral to their run to the World Cup final in 2018 and third-place finish at the 2022 tournament.
Modric has previously said he will play for his country for as long as it needs and the midfielder has already confirmed to Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic that he will be in the Nations League final this summer .
The report also says that these finals – where Croatia will be joined by Spain, Italy and the Netherlands – as well as his country’s performance in Qatar, have revitalized Modric’s commitment to the national team.
