Graeme Souness has defended Cristiano Ronaldo after the attacker’s shocking interview in which he berated Manchester United for ‘disrespecting him’.
Souness has regularly supported Ronaldo when the Portuguese star has been criticized for his actions this season, and did so again when asked about his recent words in the interview with Piers Morgan.

Graeme Souness has jumped to Cristiano Ronaldo’s defense after his recent interview

Ronaldo launched an astonishing attack on Manchester United in a conversation with Piers Morgan
“Definitely,” said Souness when asked if he was still defending the attacker.
“I’ll get back to you, there’s a meeting, two people speak, two people leave the room with understanding, and someone hasn’t kept their word.
‘He never spoke. He feels it’s time for him to come out and tell his side of the story. This is a player who, in the eyes of many people, is the best player who has ever kicked a ball.”
“Does that matter now?” Souness was asked.
“Definitely,” is his response.

Ronaldo said in the interview that he is current United manager Erik ten Hag . ‘does not respect’
Ronaldo criticized several Man United employees in the interview, targeting ten Hag, former coach Ralf Rangnick and club legend Wayne Rooney in particular.
He made clear his wish to leave the club in the summer, but ten Hag has repeatedly insisted that he is part of his plans for the future, and Souness blames the Dutchman for not living up to his end of a deal.
“I think he was told a story and the manager didn’t keep it,” Souness said.

Souness also criticized ten Hag for not keeping to an ‘agreement’ with the Portuguese attacker
“Then you see what happened after this so-called deal… he’s not pitting him against City out of respect.
“A few weeks later against Tottenham he wants to give him the lead with two minutes left if the game is won, what can Ronaldo do there? And then he makes him captain.
“Look from both sides, I’ve been a player, I’ve been a manager, I think the player has a complaint and he has the right to express his complaint.”
